Mohanlal’s Antique Romance
Actor Mohanlal’s fondness for precious antiques and pieces of memoirs is well known in the industry. However, this passion of his has landed him into a trouble of sorts in recent times. The incident in question is regarding the actor’s quest for the camera used for filming ‘Thiranottam’ which was his debut film.
KSFDC officials claimed that Mohanlal had claimed the camera through illegal methods. The trouble began to increase and the actor even decided to return it if needed. However, the head of the Kerala Producers Association Sabu Cherian said that it was needless to return it and that Mohanlal should keep it.
For Mohanlal, the camera meant a lot of memories that were priceless as it contained moments of his debut film while for KSFDC it would just be another old camera. During the inauguration of the Kairali/Sree theatres, Mohanlal had expressed his wish to acquire the camera to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who had agreed to it as well.
Thiranottam director Ashok Kumar and producer G.Suresh Kumar who was the assistant in the project and cameraman S.Kumar gifted the camera to Mohanlal at a function where a host of celebrities were present. The camera is not even in a working condition and Sabu Cherian said that Mohanlal had offered a replacement camera which was in working condition to be kept at KSDFC. The camera which is with Mohanlal is of no use to anybody except the actor as it understandably gave him nostalgic memories. Hence, after a lot of hue and cry, the camera shall remain with Mohanlal.
