Is Mammootty Under Pressure..?

With the Malayalam film industry growing leaps and bonds the box office figures are also complimenting it. The number of theatres is on a rise with many B and C class theatres getting upgraded into A class ones, so that benefiting to get a tag of release theatre. On the other side the multiplex culture is also at booming side with many national chains are getting on board. It all started with the Cinemax group entering Kochi and that was followed by more than two or three others.. It’s not different in other big cities like Calicut, Thrissur, Trvandrum, Kollam etc. were chains like Carnival, Inox its entering the market. When the business potential is increasing, the business range also grows with that. All the top stars including Mohanlal, Dileep youngsters like Dulquer Salmaan, Prithviraj, Nivin Pauly etc. have made use of this growth and once could see that with their box office figures. While Mohanlal is breaking all sorts of expectations with films like Pulirumugan, Oppam and his 2013 release Drishyam, Nivin showed his power with Premam, Bangalore Days etc.Same with Dulquer who made big with Bangalore Days, Prithviraj with his Ennu Ninte Moidheen and Amar Akbar Anthony, Dileep who minted gold with 2 Countries. But when all of them has showed their mark at the big numbers on actor hasn’t seen in the list and unfortunately it happens to be one of the big pillars of Malayalam Cinema. The actor who had a dream run at 2000′s started losing the grip from 2011 and till now he owns only one blockbuster, his Siddiq directed ‘Bhaskar The Rascal’. Mammootty, who showed excellent script sense during then has totally lost it when it comes to big hits. Though one cannot forget some of his golden films like Munnariyippu, Pathemari etc. during the recent past, he hasn’t come across any scripts that are big enough to make waves in the box office. With Mohanlal makes it huge with back to back successes tables are turned on to Mammootty, who is now under big pressure to come up with a big money spinner. The fans, the industry are all waiting badly for the Megastar to fire big and expectations are shifted to his upcoming flick ‘The Great Father’ being directed by newcomer Haneef Adheni for August Films.
