Kasaba Final Collection
KASABA FINAL BUSINESS.
Kasaba, which opened to record opening day and weekend dropped big time time after its initial week, but only after reaching its destination. The big opening was more or less expected, but record sort of start off was least expected. But Mammootty’s Dabangg kind of avatar and his association with a debut director in a complete Massybackdrop attracted the crowd to halls. It is also a partial holiday in most of the places and that too attributed to the films historic start.
The shows were less on opening day when compared to other biggies like Loham, Charlie, Kali, etc., but where Kasaba scored was in theoccupancy levels. Unlike the other movies Kasaba had almost the same impact in all centres from big to small due to the genre, something like how Tamil biggies fares on opening day. Not only the opening, but Kasaba’s run was also in the same lines of a Tamil moviein Kerala. Cashing up on the hype and earning maximum revenue in less time. The film, which grossed more than 9.5 Crore from its extended 1st week ended its run with 12.90 Crore, missing the 13 Crore mark for a whisker. The final share is between 5.60 and 5.80, which is mostly a superhit films share nowadays. But as the budget is on a bit higher side, it could attain only a Hit verdict. The films drop after the first week is due to the word of mouth, which was completely on the mixed side. Kasabaonce again showed how an average movie can cash in, if released atthe right time with the right promotion.
When analysed territory wise, Kasaba did excellent business once again in Mammootty’s strong zone Malabar area and was well in Travancore area. The central belt has been just on the average side, where word of mouth counts more.
Verdict :- Hit
