Double Barrel Opens To A Slow Start

The much awaited gangster comedy flick Double Barrel featuring the youth brigade led by Prithviraj has opened to shockingly low occupancy on day one. The film which was released in over 80+ screens in Kerala has grossed only 57 lakhs on its first day. The opening is stunningly low considering the hype and the big cast that also has Indrajith, Asif Ali and Sunny Wayne apart from Tamil star Arya.

What is baffling is that first day collections of Double Barrel are even lower than Prithviraj’s previous release Ivide which had collected 69 lakhs despite being a slow paced off-beat film. Double Barrel’s genre has been targeting the youth but the film has been receiving largely negative reports with the majority being unable to digest director Lijo Jose Pellisary’s experimental flick. Some say that it is the lukewarm response to trailer which has been the major factor to keep the audience away. With a huge budget, the film is set to bring losses to its makers and distributors unless a miracle happens at the box office.
