Will Jilla make it on January 10?
Ajith and Vijay are all set to clash at the box office this Pongal after 7 long years. The race to Pongal is heating up with fans of both actors going all out to promote their stars aggressively on the social network. Both the film teams have started promotions too with the audios to be launched in the coming week.
In the midst of all this is an issue in the Producers’ association and Theater Owners’ Association. The cause for the issue seems to be Jilla. Apparently, Vijay’s Thalaiva had released big across TN due to the condition given by Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekhar that theaters screening Thalaiva would be allotted Jilla as well. Thalaiva didn’t fare well at the Box Office.
Now the issue is, Jilla’s producer wants to choose the screens himself and isn’t willing to abide by the word given during Thalaiva release time. To be fair to him, he doesn’t have to either as it wasn’t his project. The theater owners though are unhappy with Vijay and his father as they feel let down. This issue has been a big worry for the industry and competition from Veeram has only compounded the issue for the Jilla team.
If Jilla was to release a solo for Pongal, this issue wouldn’t matter as maximum screens could be allotted, and all theater owners would be happy. But with Veeram in the offing, things get complicated. Veeram’s producers had earmarked Pongal as the release date months in advance and are unlikely to budge from a January 10 release. So, Jilla will either need to be postponed for a solo release that helps it to sort out of the issue or risk releasing on January 10. Will Jilla back out of the Pongal race? Or will Vijay find an answer to the problem? Only time will tell.
