Suhasini Doesn’t Want To Be Labelled As ‘Mother’ Character.
Suhasini is not an unknown face for the Malayali audience as she has been a part of many films including the Superstar starter ones. The actress in a recent interview went candid by projecting some stereotypes in casting processes. She, believes that labeling an actress into mother roles after an age of 30 is unfair and disturbing. Recently she was approached for the role of popular Sound Designer Resul Pookutty’s mother in an upcoming film, which didn’t go well with her. She was also approached to play young heartthrob Dulquer’s mother in another film by the makers to whom she asked ‘If Mammootty’ would agree to play as the father of Dulquer‘. The makers said a big no by stating that Mammootty is still a hero and thus Suhasini criticized the makers for labeling heroines like her as typical ‘mother’s and not the hero’s.
Moreover, she went on to speak against the Star’s of every industry as they are the one who resists the change by acting in stereotypical roles and movies. Here is a small extract of her from the interview. ”Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan are still doing stereotypical roles. I don’t think Amitabh Bachchan attempted anything different — except the angry young man image — in his time. Independent cinema still has to fight with mainstream films. I stopped seeing mainstream films 15 years ago. They are absolutely unbearable.”
Meanwhile she will be seen in a mother character in an upcoming flick on the life of famous Tamil mathematician ‘Srinivasa Ramanujan’, which is being directed by Gnana Rajasekharan.
