Prithviraj Back With A Bang!
There isn’t any actor who has defined the term redemption better in recent times than Prithviraj in the Malayalam film industry. From the promising youngster to a wannabe Superstar to the hated celebrity, he has seen it all. Things weren’t looking good for the actor in 2012 with a huge disaster in Hero and another one on debut in Bollywood in Aiyya. The actor however hasn’t had to look back since then with his selective ways fetching him rewards. Ayaalum Njaanum Thammil ended the year on a high for him while all his releases in 2013 – Celluloid, Mumbai Police and Memories succeeded at the box office while also garnering good reviews from critics and audiences. The State Award for 2012-13 was his too and he was having a purple patch for sure.
2014 didn’t start well though as his romantic caper London Bridge failed big time at the box office but Prithvi is back with a bang in this festive season with a non-festive film ’7th Day’. The actor’s punt with newcomers struck gold at the box office with the thriller being accepted by the masses and family audiences alike with critics too giving it a decent reception. The film has taken a massive opening which is surprising for a film of this genre and is all set to score big in the coming weeks. The irony is that TV channels were hesitant to buy the flick and the business deals were done just a day before the release of the flick mainly due to the amount of newcomers involved in the film. In the end, the one’s who didn’t end up buying the film will be surely kicking themselves. As for Prithvi and his distribution network August Cinemas, it’s time to smile big!
