Nivin Becomes A Cricketer !!!

Nivin Pauly who shot to fame through the romantic blockbuster ‘Thattathin Marayathu’ is all set to play cricket. No this isn’t for Kerala Strikers. We are talking about his cricket exploits on the big screen. Photographer-turned-director Abrid Shine’s debut venture ’1983′ is the film which will see Nivin in his cricket avatar. The film also features Saiju Kurup and Rajeev Pillai in key roles. The trio was hugely successful in the recently concluded Celebrity Cricket League.

After a daring and refreshing negative role in ‘Da Thadiya’, this is another good attempt from Nivin as the film will see him in a rural avatar. Nivin says that unlike the professional cricketers, the lives of the local cricketers are quite different, and each locality has their own heroes. He cites the example of Sumesh (fondly known as ‘Gayle Kuttappan’) who sizzled in the Kozhikode Local cricket tournaments and then made it to the CCL via an entry in films. Nivin, Saiju and Rajeev are avid cricket buffs and enjoy playing the sport regularly. Nivin feels that the camaraderie will show on the screen too. Apart from ’1983′, Nivin is also working on Sunil Ibrahim’s ‘Arikil Oraal’.
