Munnariyippu Postponed Till The End Of Ramzan.

Munnariyippu Postponed till the end of Ramzan ImageMegastar Mammootty‘s forthcoming flick ‘Munnariyippu‘ has been postponed till the end of Ramzan according to the close sources. The film which was said to release in the June second week was further postponed to 19th of the month previously. But now the makers have decided to postpone the movie till the end of Ramzan. It is a known fact that Ramzan is the weakest season for any movies as the collection drops in theatres especially in the Malabar area. What makes thing worse further, is the FIFA World Cup which is set to start from today, leaving the makers of ‘Munariyippu’ with only options to postpone it. The inside talk of the movie is good and the makers who are confident with their product doesn’t want to turn down the fate of the movie by releasing in an unfavorable season. The producer of ‘munnariyippu’ Ranjith himself has gone through a same situation when his ‘Thirakadha’ (2008) was released during a Ramzan season resulting in just a moderate success, when it deserved a better status.

Munnariyippu, says the story of ‘Raghavan’ a person who is imprisoned for a ‘culpable homicide’ and his encounter with a journalist who is set to investigate his past. Mammootty plays the central character of Raghavan and Aparna Gopinath will be seen as the journalist. Prithviraj will be seen in a cameo appearance which will have an important part in the story. Ranji Paniker, Joy Mathew, Nedumudi Venu, Sarayu etc will be seen in the supporting roles. Munnariyippu is directed by Cinematographer- turned- director Venu and is written by R.Unni.

With Munnariyippu, being postponed it will be now interesting to see how it will effect the release of Mammootty’s Eid flick ‘Manglish’ which is directed by Salam Bappu of ‘Red Wine’. Moreover Mammootty has his Onam flick ‘Rajadhiraja’ also queued up for a early September release. Now Mammootty will have three films to be released within a gap of hardly one month. A similar scenario was seen in Megastar’s schedule last year also, when his three films ‘Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty’, ‘Kunjananthante Kada’, and ‘Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus’ was released within a gap of 35 days.
