Mollywood’s Facebook War Continues!
Ever since Facebook has evolved, it has been common to see a lot of verbal duels among fans especially in the cinema section. Fans of actors are always busy praising their favorites while also taking a dig at their star’s rivals. As we all know, the Malayalam fan fights mainly have been about fans of Mammootty and Mohanlal battling it out 24×7. Every Mammootty film has an army of Mohanlal fans trying to degrade it while the reverse happens during the release of a Mohanlal film as Mammooty fans go against it. Not all fans are like this, but there is always a section of people in both the fans who enjoy these fights and create them at will.
The latest controversy surrounding this has been regarding actor-producer Vijay Babu’s involvement in this issue. Vijay Babu after the release of his Mohanlal starrer ‘Peruchazhi’ had shared a post of a Mohanlal Fans page from his account and that post was pretty much provoking enough for any person. This created a sensation on the social network with Mammootty fans and even neutrals strongly condemning this action from Vijay Babu while coincidentally his account became deactivated at this period too. There was a post from Vijay Babu saying that the sharing of the post was done by an admin of his and not by himself. While celebrities do use admins to manage their pages, it is surprising that a person should have an admin for his personal account especially as it is a known fact that Vijay uses his account personally. Nevertheless we shall never know if it was Vijay himself who shared it or if an admin had indeed posted it.
That is for people to decide, but the new controversy that followed this was ‘Ohm Shanthi Oshaana‘ director Jude Anthany Joseph’s status. Where in he had an indirect poke at Vijay Babu stating that his posts are always being posted by him alone and not by an ‘admin’ while adding that it seemed to be a trend these days. This post became hot news immediately as it is not always that you see producer-director rivalries on the social media. People who were against Vijay Babu celebrated this post from Jude as the social media was abuzz with this post going viral. Vijay Babu has responded to this with his latest status in which he says that the account was hacked which is why he had deactivated it for 2 days. He had finally got his account back and hence has returned to Facebook.
He also felt that cinema should not be taken personally and signed off with a stinging disclaimer stating that this could happen to any ‘Tom, Jude and Harry’. Slightly editing famous phrase ‘Tom, Dick and Harry‘ which means common people in general and replace the word Jude with Dick. Thereby taking a dig back at Jude. Well lot of events in a few days right? Jude’s anger seems to be from the fact that the Friday Film House (co-owned by Vijay Babu) were initially slated to produce Ohm Shanthi Oshaana but backed out later while also allegedly trying to degrade the film according to Jude. The director had mentioned this in a comment on his status. So, how will Jude respond to this or will he? It seems like it is high time that the Big Ms – Mammootty and Mohanlal stepped in to douse the issue.
