Mammootty and Mohanlal in Forbes’ list of 25 greatest actors of India

The top stars of the Malayalam Industry – Mammootty and Mohanlal have been included in the Forbes’ list of 25 greatest actors of Indian cinema. The performances of the past 100 years are taken into consideration for preparing the list.

Mammootty’s performance in ‘Mathilukal’ was the pick of the jury while Mohanlal’s role in ‘Bharatham’ is what got him into the club. Mathilukal which released in 1989 had Mammootty playing a prisoner who falls in love with a fellow woman prisoner. They are separated by the walls of the prison, and this portrayal is considered as one of the best performances ever.

Bharatham had Mohanlal in the role of a talented singer who is in awe of his elder brother who is also a singer. His elder brother gets jealous of his fame and dies suddenly in a pilgrimage leaving him to take all the responsibilities. Mohanlal was incredible in his role.
