Kill Online Piracy!
According to the laws laid down by the Anti-Piracy cell, uploading/downloading/sharing of Malayalam films in youtube is a punishable offence. The same goes to those sites which upload the prints of films without the permission of the producer or a copyright. There are a few established e-commerce websites that are recognized legally and people are supposed to watch movies only through those sites. We should not watch movies in other illegal or unauthentic sites as that is also considered a serious offence for which punishment may be up to 3 years in jail.
While buying the CDs/DVDs of a film, special care has to be taken to ensure that the product is original. For this, one just has to scan through the outer layer of the pack. An original pack will contain basic things like MRP, packing date, censor board certificate, copyright license emblem, producer’s name and address along with a hologram of the company releasing the product. Selling and using pirated copies of films is a punishable offence for which the guilty may get a jail sentence and compensation.
Similarly, a lot of piracy is said to occur through private cable channels. As a result, several rules are to followed before starting a cable network. Violating any of the rules will be a serious crime that is subject to punishment. A lot of piracy occurs through mobile phones as well. Storing of films or songs in mobile phones and then transferring them to computers for further piracy is a very common thing. Similarly, transferring porn videos to mobile phones is a punishable offence too particularly if age of the person is below 18 years. Only legally licensed stuff is supposed to be copied or transferred through memory cards/pen drives.
