‘I kept away because of Superstars’ – Sreekumaran Thampi
Sreekumaran Thampi who has always shown an unlike towards the Superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal has once again gone against them. It has been only a few days where his name was in for a controversy against Mammootty’s ‘Oru Vadakkan Veergadha’. Now the director, who is all set to return into direction has stated the reason for his setback from movies. According to him, he always had issues with Superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal and that’s why he wanted to stay away from mainstream cinema. A temps statement in a recent press meets goes like this. ”It is a great time for the industry as we see a new phase which isn’t centred on Superstars like Mammootty and Mohanlal”. ” I wanted to stay away from the industry just because of the domination of the Superstars and their star power”. There has always been few filmmakers who have opened up against the supremacy of the Big M’s in the industry and Thampi is one among them.
Meanwhile Thampi is gearing up into film making once again after a hiatus with a film titled ‘Ammathotiil’. The film according to him will be very different and will deal with the difference in attitudes between the old and the new generations. Veteran Actor, Madhu will be seen in a pivotal role named ‘Joseph Pushpavanam, a poet cum lyricist and Saradha will play opposite him. There will be a leading heroine in Thampi’s venture whose name he didn’t want to divulge as of now.
