Deepika Padukone To Fill In Saina’s Shoes

It seems to be the season of sports bio-epics in Bollywood. There was a time when sports films were considered a tad risky but Chak De India in 2007 changed the trend by becoming a blockbuster and winning hearts. Bhaag Milka Bhaag last year had actor-director Farhan Akthar donning the role of the legendary Milkha Singh. BMB also turned out to be a super success winning accolades for Farhan as well. The latest we here is about the bio-epic featuring Priyanka Chopra as the legendary Mary Kom that is set to hit the screens later this year. According to sources, the most sensational news comes from the Bhatt camp. Mahesh Bhatt has announced that he is planning a bio epic on the life of young badminton sensation Saina Nehwal.

This has been in the news for sometime now and Saina feels that actress Deepika Padukone would be the apt choice for the role. Deepika had been a decent badminton player herself proving it at State Level too before moving on to modeling and acting. Deepika is also the daughter of Badminton legend Prakash Padukone. So, it seems like Deepika would be essaying Saina’s role for the Bhatts though an official confirmation on the same is awaited. Considering the ripe purple patch that Deepika is in, we can expect another gem of a performance from her with commercial success guaranteed as well. Expectations are sky high and all are keenly waiting to see the leggy lass in a sports avatar!
