Acid test for Dulquer!
Dulquer Salmaan is currently facing his first acid test of his career with his next release, the bilingual Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram/ Vaaya Moodi Pesava. He had made a smart low-key entry into Mollywood in 2012 through Srinath Rajendran’s Second Show which was a critical and commercial success. Since then, he has gone places to become one of the post popular young stars in the industry who commands a huge opening too. He had done some really good films like Ustad Hotel, Neelaakasham Pacha Kadal Chuvanna Bhoomi and ABCD with the anthology Anchu Sundarikal too being appreciated.
However, Dulquer has hit a bit of a lean patch of late. His previous 2 films Pattam Pole and Salala Mobiles both bit the dust drastically at the box office. As we had mentioned earlier in an article of ours, Dulquer’s career needs a makeover as he has been doing too many similar roles of late. The actor’s upcoming list of films looks promising indeed with Anjali Menon’s ‘Bangalore Days’ with Nivin Pauly and Fahadh Faasil followed by Vikramadityan directed by Lal Jose having Unni Mukundan as the 2nd lead. There is a Renjith flick too titled ‘Njan’ that is under progress. At the box office, Dulquer needs to bounce back after back-to-back debacles. A lot hinges on this flick which is being directed by Balaji Mohan whose first film Kaadhalil Sodhapadhu Yeppadi did decent business and was praised for its fresh treatment. This film is touted to be a romantic comedy with some thriller elements too involved. Nazriya Nazim is paired opposite Dulquer with actress Madhubala making a comeback through this flick. The film also marks Dulquer’s debut in Kollywood.

The music has been well received especially by the Tamil fans. The challenge for every bilingual is to maintain a balance between the two languages involved. The film looks like having the ingredients to succeed in Tamil but whether the Malayalam audience will find it suitable to their taste remains to be seen. We all know that Dulquer is talented and that acting is in his genes. But he needs to step up in his selections to prove his mettle. Being Mammootty’s son is a big baggage to carry and Dulquer has managed it with aplomb till now but this is a testing time for him. Here’s wishing Dulquer all the very best for his upcoming projects!
