Tamil Nadu Box Office Update – Goli soda creating waves!

Kollywood is star-driven and it’s not often that films that don’t have stars do well at the box office even with positive reviews. However, that is what Golisoda has managed to do! The film has managed to gross 8 crores in 2 weeks which is fantastic considering the limited release and lack of starpower associated with it. The film was censored with a clean ‘U’ certificate which meant that it got tax exemption too.

The film therefore will get a distributor share of approximately 6.5 crores from TN which is superb! This again goes to show that content is king and that there is a market for small films. If you add the satellite rights amount (3 crores) and other rights, the producers will retrieve more than double of their investment – excellent!

Meanwhile, Vijay Melton who directed Golisoda is planning a sequel to the film that is likely to start rolling by September.
