Koothara 8 Days Collection
Koothara which released a couple of weeks ago has registered an unimpressive opening even after the presence of some notable faces plus Mohanlal. The film which was released on 14th of June had a good hype and expectation surrounding it. But the discouraging talk and mixed reviews took a blow for the movie limiting it from further advancement. After completing a 8 days of run the movie has grossed around a poor 2.10 crore which can’t be classifiedeven as an average one when compared to its screen count. If there was no Mohanlal in the movie, the situation would have been even worse which was never expected from a director who striked a gold with his debut flick itself. For instance, his first innings ‘Second Show’ grossed above 2 crore in just 10 days of its release and what Koothara is done in 8 days is more or less same when we take inflation and ticket prices into account. The film also lacked a face value upon its release back in 2012. Moreover Second Show has been a profitable movie within just 10 days of its run where it made a distributor share close to 1 crore against its mere budget. But in the case of ‘Koothara’,the film had some well known faces and a grand young cast along with Superstar Mohanlal which would have been given the film a good figure if the talk was better. Another factor which took away any chance, was the unstoppable run of’Bangalore Days‘ which is still drawing the youth audience along with a good number of family footfalls. With a below average opening of this and no favour from the audience, the future of ‘koothara’ is more or less Nil and the producers may lose some of their investments as its budget is on a higher side due to long schedules and regular halts during its making.
Koothara stars Sunny Wayne, Tovino Thomas, Bharath, Gauthami, Madhurima, Janani Iyer, Sritha Sivadas along with Mohanlal and is directed by Srinath Rajendran. Written by Vini Viswa Lal, the film is produced by Marikar Films and released by UTV Motion Pictures.
Verdict : Below Average Opening
