7th Day Final Collection
7th day – An Overwhelming Success!
Vishu is the season of entertainers and generally it is the festival entertainers that rule the roost. Hence, the odds were heavily stacked against Prithviraj whose thriller. The 7th day was set to clash against Dileep’s potboiler Ring Master as well as Mammootty’s action drama Gangster. Not many expected the young actor to come up trumps with the heavy opposition, but the film stunned everyone by taking the biggest first week opening among the Vishu releases. Prithviraj’s one-man show and the climax twist were told to be the main pluses of the film that also had an engaging script and director – both of whom were debutants. However, Prithviraj reportedly had huge confidence in the project right from the very beginning and his faith in the newcomers has proven to bang on.
The film after a strong opening continued to do well though gradually the collections subsided which is quite normal for a film of this genre. The makers can be proud of the way the film has performed at the box office considering the thriller genre and the timing of release. As for Prithviraj, this is one more cop role that has hit the bulls eye and the actor has really come-of-age with regard to his performances and selections since 2012. After doing cop roles in Mumbai Police and Memories, this flick once again has Prithvi has a cop who is under suspension. The film also helped Prithvi bounce back from the London Bridge debacle in January this year. The film has collected 9.75 crores at the box office after its lifetime run and is a clean super-hit at the box office.
