2014 – A Mixed Start For Kerala Box Office
The Kerala Box Office is down as the releases in the New Year have all failed to strike at the box office. London Bridge, Salala Mobiles and Mannar Mathai Speaking-2 are loss-making ventures for theater owners as well as the distributors. ‘Salala Mobiles’ has better theatrical run than the other 2 releases but the fate remains the same. Meanwhile, there is some relief as ’1983′ and ‘Om Shanthi Oshana’ have both opened well at the box office to positive reports. From the current status, both may turn out to be hits. Mammootty’s ‘Balyakalasakhi’ has opened slowly but has got positive reports which has to translate into collections if the film has to do well at the box office. The incredible news is that Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam’ continues to do super-strong business all over Kerala having more occupancy than all the 2014 releases which is phenomenal!
