Ambika – Biography
Ambika was born in Kilimannur in Trivandrum district. She started out as a child artist. Thereafter, she went on to work in more than 200 films. She made her debut in 1978 through the late release Seetha as a lead actress and went on to several supporting roles too in her career. Neelathamara was a big success and remade decades later too while films like Lejjavathi also made her popular. Ambika had a successful career in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films for a wide period of time.
It was Malayalam cinema that gave Ambika some of her best roles and she proved her acting skills with aplomb too. Some of the popular films during her heydays are Kaaki Sattai, Periya Manushyan, Maa Naanaki Pelli, Simmadamari, Maaveeran, Vikram, Kadhal Parisu, Padikkadhavan and many more. She has shared screen space with the top stars of all the industries.
Ambika was first married in 1988 to Shinu John. The marriage lasted 9 years and they had 2 children from the marriage Ram Kesav and Rishikesh. In 1998, Ambika married again but even the 2nd marriage wasn’t fruitful for her as it ended in divorce yet again.
