Amala Akkineni – Biography
Amala Mukherjee (Amala Akkineni) knows as ‘Ámala’ was born on September 12, 1968 in West Bengal. Her mother was Irish while her father was a Bengali. She made her debut in 1986 through the flick Mythili Ennai Kaadhali directed by T.Rajender that was a critical as well as a commercial success. From then on, she went on to become a popular actress in all the south Indian languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu while also making her presence felt in Bollywood.
Some of Amala’s most famous films are Pushpak, Agni Natchithiram, Nirnayam, Siva, Dayavan, Shiva and Life is Beautiful. She has shared the screen with top stars like Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan, Nagarjuna, Mammootty, Mohanlal, Mithun Chakraborty, Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh.
Amala married Telugu superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni in 1992 and changed her name from Amala Mukherjee to Amala Akkineni and the couple have a son Akhil Akkineni. She is the step-mother of Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya Akkineni. She had quit acting post her marriage but made a comeback in 2012 with the film ‘Life is Beautiful’ that fetched her accolades for her sparkling performance.
