Ajith Kumar was born on May 1, 1971 in Secunderabad in Andhra Pradesh to a Malayali Iyer father and a Sindhi mother. He was brought up in Chennai. After completing his schooling, he took up work as a mechanic while also going for modeling works. He was also an ardent racer and loved doing daredevil stunts. He made his debut in 1992 through the Telugu flick Prema Pustakam which is also his only straight Telugu flick.
Ajith’s Tamil debut was through Amarvathi and in this flick, fellow actor Vikram had dubbed for Ajith as the latter’s Tamil wasn’t fluent enough. Thereafter, the actor has worked in more than 50 films. Some of his biggest hits are Kadhal Mannan, Aasai, Vaali, Villain, Varalaru, Attagasam, Billa, Mankatha, Veeram, Arrambam etc. Ajith’s finesse in doing multiple roles is well known. The actor has also appeared in a negative role in the Hindi flick Asoka which featured Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.
Ajith is married to actress Shalini and the couple has a daughter Anoushka.
