Adoor Bhasi – Biography
K.Bhaskaran Nair (Adoor Bhasi) was born in Vazthacaud in the city of Trivandrum on March 1, 1927 to a royal family. He made his debut in 1953 in an insignificant role in a feature film titled Thiramala. However it was in 1961 through Mudiyanaya Puthran that he did his first notable character on screen. From then on, he went on to act in more than 800 films. His roles were mostly that of the supporting character to the main lead. Bhasi’s comic timing was hilarious and evoked instant laughter.
He even essayed the negative role in flicks like Karimbana and Itha Oru Manushyan. The actor is also known for performing some memorable multiple roles in flicks like Kottaram Vilkaanundu, Bhadradeepam and Lankadehanam. A bio-epic depicting the life and times of Bhasi is under pre-production with actor Dileep in the lead. Bhasi’s nephew Harikumar is scripting the flick which is expected to be shot in major parts of Trivandrum. Another specialty of Bhasi was his immense talent spotting skills as he was the first person to spot the great Kamal Haasan’s skills. The rest as we all know is history.
Unlike other celebrities, Bhasi’s personal life was restricted and the actor never married in his lifetime.
